We are always excited for Physical Therapy Month. It gives PTs the opportunity to be recognized for their specialized contributions in the healthcare setting. Over the last few years, there has been advancement in Louisiana regarding when Physical Therapists can treat patients. In the recent past, PTs needed a referral from a physician to provide services. Since Direct Access became law in June of 2016, PTs no longer need a doctor's order to evaluate and treat!
More recently, it seems that the insurance plans are more in line with Direct Access. Most times they do not require a referral in order to approve payment for Physical Therapy services. It's based on medical need. But your insurance must be verified and your specific plan coverage checked.
We often see that LOVE/HATE relationship with PTs during treament (shown in photo). We do joke about this. Physical Therapy can be painful. But we help you focus on your goals and the ultimate outcome of treatment. More often than not, the outcome is well worth the work. Physical Therapists are a part of healing, overcoming limitations, becoming independent, managing pain.... You get the picture. Just like you, we are personally invested in your well being.
At Excel Rehab Services, we form close bonds with our patients. If we've treated you or your family, you know. Want to see what it's like to be treated as a person, not a number? Want to get direct care from the PT? Give us a call & give us an opportunity to show you how we do things. Your health is worth it! And help support small business in your community. We are a small business, locally owned and operated by a husband and wife team.
PS If you ride by the clinic, Honk for PT! Can't wait to meet you.
